Job Summary:

The Senior Vice President of Communications (SVPC) is responsible for the development and execution of the organization’s communication strategy. The position has a focus on strategic industry communications among PERC staff, industry partners, state and regional partners, marketplace partners and more. The position promotes, enhances, and protects the propane industry’s brand messaging and reputation. The SVPC is responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of communication activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization. This person builds strategic relationships with members of the propane industry and the media, advancing the organization’s position with relevant stakeholders, as well as driving broader awareness and support for the propane industry. The SVPC is responsible for PERC’s varied and integrated communications products and services including: newsletters and other print publications; web, e-news, and other online communications; media and public relations; and marketing.  Prepares and presents materials for Board of Director review/approval on communication projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements:

  • 10-15 Years of directly related experience
  • Strong knowledge of business communications
  • Ability to create effective communications and marketing campaigns
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detailed understanding of communication tools, including print, web, and other forms of communications.
  • Experience working with media and public relations firms.
  • Good understanding of the Propane industry and stays current on trends and news within the industry.
  • Conducts targeted market research and analyzes data to understand industry needs, gauge industry reactions to new initiatives, and predict potential risks and disruption.
  • Works with leadership to share communications strategy with key stakeholders and industry partners to ensure alignment, integration, and strong ROI.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing.  Advanced degree preferred.

Working Conditions: Office Work Environment (50%-100%) / Travel (up to 50%)
